Here we are with yet another week of lockdown. At least the sun is shining [although not yet this morning] and we can all spend time outdoors either walking, gardening or just sitting and looking around. Nature is a wonderful thing to study – the trees are out in leaf, the flowers are blossoming, seeds are growing, the birds are nesting – everything carries on as normal. The news can be really depressing at times but just looking outside your windows can help enormously.
I have already mentioned the Food Bank but if anyone wants to donate non perishable goods, please leave them in the church porch and we will arrange for them to be collected and distributed. We can all help in a small way to alleviate the financial stress that this pandemic is causing. There is a box in the porch for your gifts – please be generous.
Please keep on doing the quizzes, knitting or crocheting some poppies, watching our online services and doing all the things you didn’t have time for before this. Just to slow down a bit and think more, write letters to your family and friends, make more phone calls, get in touch with people you haven’t seen for a while – these are all positive things to do. I am decorating at present which is a bit taxing for me but it needed doing. Thank goodness that online shopping is so brilliant and we can buy paint etc. We are also getting weekly delivery slots from Tesco or Sainsbury which helps.
Huge thanks must go to our team of Rev. Anne, Rev. Julie and Reader Gillian for doing the services online. As you know, we have no vicar at present but our services carry on for you to watch and join in. Rev. Anna is also part of the team and all of them are keeping our benefice going. The Virtual Vicar link on http://www.3churches.uk gives all the services and the links to the 3 parishes let you know what is going on.
The service for Sunday April 26th is All Age Worship led by Gillian Kern. If you want to join in at a time that others may watch, it is 10am, but you can watch at anytime that suits you.
NHS/Carers/Key workers Rainbow Tree. As our way of thanking all the wonderful people who are keeping things going, we thought that we would have a tree in the churchyard to show our appreciation. We are asking everyone to tie something onto the tree which is in one or all of the colours of the rainbow – a scarf, ribbons, knitted items, laminated pictures etc- use your imagination and please ask your friends and neighbours to join in. We want a lovely display for us all to see as we walk or drive past..
Keep well and safe.
God bless.
Margaret, Jo, all the PCC and our team ministry
